East Gippsland Landcare Network is partnering with Trust for Nature to help run a fox control project around The Blond Bay reserve. This Thursday night, we will be having a light supper with presentations from Andy Murray from Southern Ark, Brett Mills from TfN, David Young from the Bairnsdale Field and Game Group and a Waterbird presentation. The presentations will showcase the waterbirds and small mammals at risk to foxes, what effect foxes have on native wildlife and farms, and how to get rid of them!

Fox Control Incentives

EGLN is partnering with Trust For Nature on fox control on freehold land surrounding the Blond Bay State Game Reserve as part of a project to improve waterbird populations on the Gippsland Lakes.  The project area is 6,500 ha in size and covers the Blond Bay State Game Reserve and surrounding freehold land.

Land-holders within the project area are eligible to receive fox control incentives that  include a $50 fox bounty, reimbursement of up to 50% of fox baiting costs, a per kilometre reimbursement for fox shooting contractors and free dog muzzles for land-holders. Thirty four foxes have have been destroyed by shooters on three properties to date.
