The Eagle Point – Paynesville Landcare Coastcare Group (EPPLC) formed in 2009. The Group area covers approximately 5,000 hectares encompassing the areas of Eagle Point and Paynesville. The Group is situated 12km south east of the City of Bairnsdale.
The group has several projects including site restoration along the Silt Jetties in Eagle Point in conjunction with FoGL. This work includes revegetation and weed management; The Ah Yee Creek project on the corner of Eagle Point and Paynesville Road which involves fencing, weed management and revegetation; and the Bat House project in the Eagle Point Flora & Fauna Reserve. The Bat House project, funded by Coastcare, includes modifications to the existing structure, interpretive signage and providing ‘Going Batty 😉 ‘ sessions for the local primary school and the public, run by Wildlife Unlimited. As well, the group is preparing major Management Plans for the Sunset Cove Walking Track in Paynesville and the Eagle Point Flora & Fauna Reserve.
