“Working together to protect and enhance the natural environment of Raymond Island by maintaining and protecting the natural attractions of the Island and development of low impact tourism infrastructure in harmony with maintaining the Islands character are the key activities of the Raymond Island Landcare group”.
The Raymond Island Landcare group formed in 1994 and the group area covers 759 hectares.
Raymond Island is nestled in the centre of the Gippsland Lakes, a short three minute ferry trip from Paynesville, across McMillan Strait. The Island is a popular tourist destination, well known for its koala population.
The Group’s main focus is the Island’s wildlife, including habitat restoration and weed control.
